About EV:

Esperanza Vintage is owned and operated by Em Esperanza, a 2-Spirit non-binary artist and vintage curator of indigenous (Zapotec, Mixtec) and European ancestry.

I’ve been immersed in the vintage world for most of my life. I have early childhood memories of vending flea markets with my mom, who has been buying and selling vintage since the early ‘80s. In high school, I started my vintage clothing business (Corazón Vintage on Etsy). Over the years, my business evolved into Esperanza Vintage. I feel grateful for everything this business has taught me and the fascinating people I’ve met.

My favorite pieces to curate are handmade and show the artist’s hand (handwork). I also love historic pieces that reflect wear and offer glimpses into the past. I am fascinated by the histories and cultural contexts of textiles and cloth. Esperanza Vintage is an outlet for me to share a selection of the unique and special vintage garments I’ve come across in my life and travels.

  • Vintage Grading

Most vintage garments on the market are “pre-loved” and have lived many prior lives. Rarely is a garment “perfect” - pieces may have varying degrees of wear or indications of age.

Vintage is generally “graded” based on the condition of the garment and the wearability/sturdiness of the material, ranging from “Excellent/Mint”, to “Very Good”, “Good”, and “Fair”. Grading takes into consideration fabric sturdiness/wearability, discoloration, repairs, mends, distress, marks, paint stains, etc.

I carry a range of vintage and do my best to note important flaws, repairs, imperfections, and unique design elements that add to the character of a garment. Please read all descriptions before purchasing and be mindful that all garments are second-hand and very minor flaws may not be noted.

  • Returns + Exchanges

I do not accept returns at this time. All sales are final, with very few exceptions.
